10 example SOPs your team and your AI agents can follow
An SOP is written for whoever does the work. Today that's a person. Tomorrow some of the steps go to an AI agent. These ten examples come from our library of 150+ pre-made SOPs, and each one is written for both.
What's in every SOP
- Scope: where the process starts and where it ends.
- Roles: who does each part, people and agents, with one owner for the outcome.
- The steps: the correct workflow, in order.
- KPIs: what to track, where the number comes from, and how often.
- The AI-first version: the same process with each step marked machine, assisted or judgment, so you can see what an agent takes and what stays with a person.
The ten
| Department | SOP |
|---|---|
| Hiring | Hire for an open role |
| Hiring | Onboard a new team member |
| Sales | Turn a new lead into a proposal |
| Sales | Follow up an open proposal |
| Finance | Chase past-due invoices |
| Finance | Close the month |
| Operations | Onboard a new client |
| Operations | Hand off a finished project |
| Client service | Handle a client complaint |
| Leadership | Run the weekly team meeting |
How to use them
Copy one, change it to how your company actually works, and give it an owner. Then run it for a month and fix what didn't match reality. The SOP is the foundation for automation. An agent can only follow what's written down.
If you're not sure where to start, pick the process that repeats most and eats the most time, and write it down together with the person who owns the outcome.
